BASED ON A TRUE STORY A brilliant police officer and a brilliant killer are at odds as the bodies pile up in Vanderburgh, and Posey County in Indiana, and also in Kentucky's Henderson County. You can get in the minds of both men and feel the frustration as they play cat and mouse throughout the Christmas season of 1954 and into April of 1955. Watch the killer as he is caught, tried, sentenced to die, and escapes from an escape proof jail. He runs to California and the FBI gets involved and joins the chase. It's a chase to be remembered. ! Endorsements "I have truly enjoyed reading this book! Being from Evansville Indiana and presently living and working in Posey County Indiana, I am familiar with the locations, victims, and their families that were involved in this tragic story. I highly recommend this book! It is accurate in its details, and interesting in its content. " Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Alexander, Posey County, Indiana "Research has clearly been done on this work. It is a very interesting read, and will hold your attention throughout. I am certain you will appreciate the unique presentation as did I." Larry A. Dever, Sheriff, Cochise County Arizona "This book is a great read! I really enjoyed it! I thought it read like a movie script, and should be made into a movie." Judge David Morales, Cochise County, Arizona.

I haven't read the book, but love that someone finally decided to tell the story and publish it! I am a native of Evansville, Indiana and have grown up hearing personal accounts of Leslie Irvin for years from my grandparents and, of course, I've studied him in law. His verdict was the first in Indiana's history to be reversed because of pre-trial publicity. Strangely, and creepy enough, he is buried just a few rows back from my grandparents. I've been told by cemetery officials that teachers have brought classes out to his grave while undoubtedly recounting the fear and chaos brought to our community by him so many years ago. His crime and murder spree still weighs heavy with many hear and will always intrigue the generations after.Product details

I loved this book. The person who spoke of the Supreme Court ruling must not have read it, since it was addressed. Once I started reading this book I could not stop. It was very well written by someone who should know all of the facts of the case. Dan Hudson Jr., (The lead detectives son.), is the husband of the author. Read the book and you will find this out. I liked the way the writer told the story through the eyes of both the killer, and the cop. All of the facts are still there, but it makes it so much more readable. Kudos to Joyce Hudson on a job well done! This would make a great movie!
Very interesting to read! It was fascinating to read about a local crime spree and know the locations in Evansville that were mentioned in the book
Very informative book. I was 13 at the time and remember how scared we were and started locking our doors
If you live in Henderson, KY or across the river in the Evansville area you will really enjoy this book. It is a part of our history. A true crime of the most heinous sort. All parts of the area are talked about Henderson, KY, Evansville, IN, Princeton, IN, Geneva, KY, Posey County, IN, Cordon, KY.
I lived in the area that this happened. I haven't read the whole book yet, still reading it. Very well written though.
The book was a little different than what I had read a previous issue of it . Had some detail I didn't know . Author wrote it as if she knew the dialog each person said . Made it more of a regular story. Although I remember a lot of it , I married one of the sons later , and our children will have it in their past history , it affected their Daddy all his life . Mamaw was able to cook and clean bake pies etc. my daughter when she was 5 or 6 would go over to "help" Mamaw some weekends . Mamaw never remember what happened that tragic day tho. I wrote her a poem a few years later "Memory's " to put in the Gleaner to thank people for all the prayers and help they had done . She was a very brave and strong person.
Very poorly written The author needs some training in basic English skills
